Hi, I’m Hashimoto from the IT Division.
After our usual company meetings, Sugitec is starting new study sessions on July 9, 2021 (Friday). These sessions are for getting new qualifications. This is a new Sugitec initiative to help our staff improve their skills.
The target qualification for this project is “Second Class Architectural Construction Management Engineer”.
What is a Construction Management Engineer?
It’s a national certification for managing an entire construction site. There are two types of certifications: first-class construction management engineer and second-class construction management engineer. This certification allows you to work as a full-time engineer at each sales office or as a chief engineer/supervising engineer, who is required to be assigned to each construction site.
There are two levels of qualifications for construction management engineers: first and second class. The main difference is that the second class is the same as the first class in that the second class can be in charge of full-time engineers and chief engineers at sales offices. However, there is a difference in the sites that they can be in charge of.
A top-notch construction management engineer can oversee big-budget projects with contracts worth 40 million yen or more. A second-class engineer can manage projects with contracts up to that amount.
The good news is that the second level still has a relatively low hurdle to take the exam. It’s not a guaranteed pass for everyone, but the good news is that it’s pretty straightforward to challenge.
Easy-to-understand explanations of key points from past problems
Mrs. N put together some materials for the day using the reference books he’d studied in the past. He explained each question in an easy-to-understand way based on these materials.
Of course, there were some areas that we all knew about from our day-to-day work and some that we didn’t, but the workshop helped us all learn a lot.
Also, our executive director joined us this time as an observer. His expertise gave us some great insights and tips on a range of topics, and I’m sure we all learned a lot from him.
Summary
We’re kicking off a new study session for second-class construction management engineers. It’ll be interesting to see how many of them pass the exam! The participants are eager to learn, so we have high hopes for them!
We’ll also be keeping you updated on this study group, and we hope you’ll be interested in following its progress.
