SDGs活動報告

Sugite will contribute to vaccines for developing countries through “Secondhand Clothes de Vaccine,” a reuse service for used clothes.

Hello. Starting this year, 2022, the staff of Sugitec has decided to assign a person to be in charge every month to carry out ongoing SDG activities, even if it is a small thing that we can do.

Each month, the staff member assigned to the project thinks about what the company and we can do, and puts it into action. At the end of the month, the results are shared with everyone at the meeting and reported on this blog.

At the meeting, we also decide who will be in charge of the next month. The person in charge will be decided by lottery. This is because, if we rotate the assignees in order, the person who is assigned once will not be assigned again for more than a year, which means that he or she will not be able to think about the SDGs much.

I chose this form because I thought it would be a good opportunity to continuously think about what I could do to help where I might be in charge at any given time.

January is the reuse of used clothing!

This month’s assignment will be carried out by H of the IT Division. The item he has chosen to implement is a service for reusing used clothing. There are many services like this, but after researching, I found out that there is a service called “Secondhand Clothes de Vaccine,” which allows people to contribute vaccines to children in developing countries by signing up for the service.

When you apply for this service, a special collection kit is sent to you, and you fill it with clothes you no longer wear and have them collected. After sorting, the collected used clothing is exported to developing countries, where it is sorted and sold locally, first creating local employment, and the sales from this process lead to vaccine donations.

Incidentally, the service is used by a wide range of well-known companies such as TOYOTA, ANA, Yamato Transport, and Mitsui Fudosan, as well as universities such as the University of Tokyo, giving it a sense of reliability.

↓So I received the collection kit today! I was told that I can further contribute to the vaccine by posting a review on the site, so naturally I want to help here too.

We will work with each department to collect work clothes and other items that are no longer needed and ship them out this month!

We will update the report here again, if you would like to see it.
