Activities in March 2010: Ecology Month focusing on “Creating a sustainable community” and “Responsibility to create and use”! Plastic Bottle Cap Collection Campaign!

Hello, this is H from the IT Division.

I’m really looking forward to this month’s reading month, which is all about education. It’ll be a nice change of pace.

And the person in charge for March, as determined by last month’s raffle drawing, is…

The decision was made for Mr. O in the General Affairs Department!

Regarding this month’s goal, as suggested by Mr. O, we’ve decided to implement the “Ecocap Movement.” This is an activity focused on creating a community where people can continue to live and take responsibility for creating and using.

The Ecocap Movement was originally started by a high school girl who took her garbage to the city’s garbage bureau and heard the staff member say, “Separate PET bottles and put the rest in burnable garbage,” and wondered if the separation of garbage was for separating what could be sold and what couldn’t. The project started as a demo to find out if PET bottle caps can be recycled in response to questions about the reality of the 3Rs and recycling.

This activity, which kicked off in 2005, is slowly gaining traction and has now grown into a major movement with more than 90,000 people participating.

By getting involved in this initiative, we can help create new products that can be recycled, we can play a part in reducing ocean pollution by reducing the amount of plastic, and we can help to reduce CO2 emissions by recycling instead of burning. I think it’s a great idea for us to get together on our own, but it’s even better when we bring people from all over the country together to make it happen.

The caps we collect go to the “NPO Ecocap Promotion Association,” and we get a receipt that shows how many caps we’ve collected. This can help keep us motivated to keep up the good work in the future.。

So, one month on, how many caps will we have collected in this box? Together, we will make this happen!
