A general meeting was held to unify the awareness of all members of the Kyoto Head Office and Tokyo Branch Office on the occasion of Sugitec’s SDG initiatives.
In order to promote the SDGs, we have set the following seven targets.

Quality education
Sugitec’s approach is to “create an environment where people can continue to learn.
We will contribute to society by improving the technical skills of all employees and providing better and higher quality services through periodic study sessions held by skilled technicians within the company, as well as by proposing technical qualifications and special training programs for the acquisition and improvement of individual skills and technologies, and by establishing a system whereby the company pays for the costs associated with such training.

As for the implementation of regular study sessions to improve the skills and knowledge of employees, create an annual implementation schedule and establish a system for regular training.
Gender equality
Sugitec’s approach is “an environment where women can play an active role.
In accordance with the Law for the Promotion of Women’s Activities, we are promoting the employment of female employees. We have formed an all-female survey team for building survey work, and we have been accumulating achievements in survey work and report writing at many work sites. Since the power of women is indispensable for improving social vitality and realizing sustainable economic growth, we will continue to create an environment in which women can play an active role and promote their advancement.

Our approach at Sugitec is “to provide an environment where people can think and act on their own initiative, and a workplace that is rewarding to work in.
We are actively engaged in the development of technologies to improve operational efficiency through the use of ICT and other technologies. This is based on feedback from the problems and other issues that have emerged in the workplace during daily operations, and the development of technology has led to significant improvements in operational efficiency. We will continue to create new value and provide our customers with the solutions and services we have developed, thereby contributing to the development of the company and the revitalization of the industry.

The initiative at Sugitec is “Promotion of ICT in survey and construction sites.”
We have developed “Smart ST”, which can quickly and precisely survey the exterior walls of structures and prepare reports. We will continue to create new ways of doing business by utilizing ICT and other technologies to further improve business efficiency.。

Innovating survey technology. To share knowledge of the latest technologies using drones, which is currently a focus of our company, and the newly introduced AR device, HoloLens2, etc. And to promote the development of new technologies that utilize these technologies.
Sustainable cities and communities
Our approach at Sugitec is to “contribute to the creation of a safe and secure community over the long term.
Since our founding, we have been involved in the survey and repair of building and infrastructure structures, and have contributed to the development of local communities with our accumulated knowledge, experience, and technical capabilities. We will continue to contribute to the realization of sustainable community development with our solid technical capabilities and track record in the maintenance of buildings and infrastructure, which will continue to increase in the future.

We will continue to provide safe and secure structures through accurate survey work. We will propose appropriate construction methods, materials, and maintenance management for our work, and conduct high-quality work that meets our company’s standards.
Responsible consumption and production
The approach at Sugitec is “to prevent loss of value and reduce the calculation of waste by extending the life of structures and considering their life cycles.
Our specialty, longevity extension through high quality renovation construction, supports the living environment of the city and contributes to waste control and conservation of finite resources.

In providing safe and secure building and infrastructure structures through appropriate surveys, we will propose appropriate materials and place orders for the appropriate amount of materials to be used, and will not generate wasteful excess materials.
Partnerships for the goals
Our approach at Sugitec is “development of local communities and preservation of the global environment.
In 2020, we became a full member of BELCA, a public interest incorporated association for the promotion of long-life buildings.

Deployment and sharing of better survey technology. Development of survey technology with partners is ongoing, and we will continue to actively innovate and build a wide range of partners.
Regularly unify staff awareness
The above is a general outline of the SDG activities at Sugitec. While this focus on the SDGs has been attracting attention, the term “SDG-wash” has also been discussed.
This is the term used to refer to “only top of the line responses. It is a term that refers to “just pretending to be working on it”. No matter how many goals are set, there is no activity, and there is no real situation when you take it a step further.
No matter how admirable the goals may be, they may not be realistic or necessary to work toward in the first place. We need to have a serious discussion about this issue.
The first prerequisite for working toward the SDGs is to unite the awareness of all those who will work together with us. This is only possible when everyone is united and serious.
