-How did you learn about the SDGs and your impressions and impressions after learning about the SDGs?
I’ve been hearing the term “SDGs” since I was a university student, and I love that they’re all about making the world a more sustainable and comfortable place for everyone. At first, I thought I’d heard some challenging side letters, but once I got to know the SDGs better, I realized they include things we often take for granted. And we can all make a difference for the environment through simple actions we can take.
-What do you think are the benefits of companies working on the SDGs?
Take energy, for instance. The amount of CO2 and energy that one person can reduce is really quite small. However, we truly believe that even if we focus on companies instead of individuals, the results can make a big difference. Also, as the group grows from one person to a company, and then from a company to society, this will help to reduce CO2 emissions and energy waste.
-What are your current challenges in addressing the SDGs?
It’s so different from how we used to live! Many products are disposable or have a short expected lifespan, so it’s not so common for us to use the same item for a long period of time. I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s not so long ago that we had to replace our mobile phones and PCs after just a few years. And that’s despite the fact that they were already showing their age and not performing as well as they could have done for the environment.
